ID:
37
Starting Date:
2001-07-05
Working Group:
1
Status:
Done
Closing Date:
2002-02-21
Background:

The term Measurement is ambiguous. Is may be the action or the result of the action. The same holds for several other activity terms.

Old Proposal:

In scope. Working Group 3.

Transform activity terms into gerunds where possible:

E7 - - - - Activity (Acting)
E8 - - - - - Acquisition (Acquiring)
E9 - - - - - Move (Moving)
E10 - - - - - Transfer of Custody (Transferring Custody)
E11 - - - - - Modification (Modifying)
E12 - - - - - - Production (Producing)
E13 - - - - - Attribute Assignment (Attribute Assigning)
E14 - - - - - - Condition Assessment (Condition Assessing)
E15 - - - - - - Identifier Assignment (Identifier Assigning)
E16 - - - - - - Measurement (Measuring)
E17 - - - - - - Type Assignment (Type Assigning)
E65 - - - - - Conceptual Creation (Conceptually Creating)
E66 - - - - - Formation (Forming)
E63 - - - - Beginning of Existence (Beginning of Existence)
E67 - - - - - Birth (Giving Birth)
E12 - - - - - Production (Producing)
E65 - - - - - Conceptual Creation (Conceptually Creating)
E66 - - - - - Formation (Forming)
E64 - - - - End of Existence (Ending of Existence)
E6 - - - - - Destruction (Destroying)
E68 - - - - - Dissolution (Dissolving)
E69 - - - - - Death (Dying)

Alternatively, one could attach "event" like : "E7 Action Event".

TG, Nov 28, 2001.

Current Proposal:

I prefer gerundifying or extending by "event" only those, which are ambiguous: Acquisition, Modification, Measurement, Creation, Formation, Production.

MD, January 2002.

Outcome:

Rename:

E7 Acquisition Event,
E11 Modification Event,
E16 Measurement Event,
E65 Creation Event,
E 66 Formation Event,
E12 Production Event.
