Issue 314: The introductory text of CIDOC CRM site

Starting Date:
2016-11-17
Working Group:
4
Status:
Open
Background:
During the discussion, historians Francesco Beretta and Vincent Alamercery remarked that in the home page of both the old and the new sites of the CIDOC CRM there is no information about how to use the FRBRoo and the other family models. This issue relates to the issue 264 CRM extensions and how we talk about them.

Martin proposed to open a new issue about this

Current Proposal:

In the 38th joined meeting of the CIDOC CRM SIG and ISO/TC46/SC4/WG9 and the 31st FRBR - CIDOC CRM Harmonization meeting, the crm-sig assigned to GB to write a text, Steve to review it and to be proposed to the crm-sig for approving.

<HW>

Ok this is a homework that has sat for too long, so I tried to tackle it. I had a quick effort to rewrite this text. It is the front page text of CRM and CRM SIG so it should be good. I think maybe I have made it too long now. But it definitely needs updating. I think for the front page we might also want to go for a large font size and some friendly images and visualization to accompany the text so that it is inviting.

Here’s my first go:

In the 40th joined meeting of the CIDOC CRM SIG and ISO/TC46/SC4/WG9 and the 33nd FRBR - CIDOC CRM Harmonization meetingthe sig assigned to SS to  review the introductory text  and send it to the list for voting by email. The text is appeared in appendix of the minutes.

Cologne, January 2018

In the 44th joint meeting of the CIDOC CRM SIG and ISO/TC46/SC4/WG9; 37th FRBR - CIDOC CRM Harmonization meeting, the sig reviewed GB’s HW on the introductory text for the CRM site (What is the CIDOC CRM? and Who are we?) and the introductory text for the “Use and Learn” section of the CRM site and
(a) regarding the introductory text to the CRM site, the sig agreed that the documents by GB are to substitute current “What is the CIDOC CRM?” and “Who are we?” versions found in the home page of CIDOC CRM. The texts can be found here
(b) regarding the section How can I use the CIDOC CRM?, the sig did some editorial work on the fly. It was agreed that the text needs be rewritten and then placed under the Use and Learn section. The document, in its working form, can be found here
